So, I am auditioning for Drum Major of my high school band pretty soon. Part of the audition is to conduct a piece of music. My problem is the first song I chose was crazy hard and fast, and had no downbeats, so I couldn’t do it in time.
The current drum major suggested a choose a song I know, and I know the star wars songs quite well
I do not know how to tell what the meter is without guessing, can anyone tell me a song that would be good to conduct? I really like either lyrical songs or powerful marches. I was looking at ‘across the stars’ and ‘the imperial march’
I need to conduct about two to three minutes of the song
Thank you!
Oh and tempo changes would be good, but star wars has a lot of those
This has been bugging me for a while. I was trying to teach my husband about dictation and he wanted to learn how to dictate the Imperial March. I’m not sure if it’s 4/4 or 6/8 – now I’m sure if I don’t post a link of both I’ll raise all h*ll. so here’s a link I made up of both. It’s short and I categorized it under "education"
I don’t know which is correct.. or are they both right?
Thanks!

lol!
hmm.. I was thinking about that.. If it’s because a march is usually in 4/4 I can understand that, but if you listen, without the beats I added the 6/8 is even slower.
Here’s what I just finished. To show you there’s hardly any difference:
I was wondering if anyone knew where I would be able to find the elevator music version of the Imperial March from Star Wars, used in Sunday’s Family Guy episode?
Preferably in ringtone form… I’d laugh every time my phone rang…
I’m planning on inserting Darth Vader in a fighting game (made via Flash) involving other characters from other franchises.
Darth Vader is iconic, and among the most memorable villains in cinema.
What I need from you guys are some opinions. I’ll state what I need, and my PERSONAL (though not final) opinions.
1. As a character, he needs one or two colors to represent him.
* I personally think black and red do the trick.
2. As a fighter… he needs moves. Specificially, 3 normal moves and one "OMG ULTIMATE FINISHER."
* All I know is he uses his lightsaber. Not sure what style or moves could be his.
3. He also needs a background location based on his character and/or story.
* Is the Death Star good?
4. All characters need a theme song.
* The Imperial March fits, but then I played In Rainbows Radiohead while it was on TV… it fit, somehow. Not sure. Your thoughts?
My project is/will be pretty ambitious, combining several pop culture icons and franchise mascots in an ultimate showdown. I hope it comes to fruition — it’d be a nerd’s wet dream. And yes. I am a complete nerd.
Bonus: Any other Star Wars characters you wanna see in the game?
I’m looking for opinions from anyone and everyone. I’m trying to compile a list of the best villain songs (not theme songs, like the imperial march in Star Wars. More along the lines of "Be Prepared" from the Lion King)
The villains songs are always much more exciting, entertaining and fun to listen to, so what songs scared you as a kid? What songs thrill you with their darkness now? whats your favourite villain song(s) of all time?
For those of you who don’t know what the Imperial March is, it is essentially the theme song for Darth Vader and the Empire in the Star Wars movies.
Actually, the Brewers don’t use it for the opponent lineup, they just play a quote from the movie "Madagascar" and then play some generic music.
I am filling my MySpace playlist with space related songs. So far, I have The Imperial March (Darth Vader’s theme) by John Williams, Spaceman by The Killers, Starman by David Bowie, I Ran by Flock of Seagulls and The Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band by Meco. What are some other good space or alien songs? Any genre is cool!
my friend had an addon for WOW that was like a giant soundboard that not only had clips from tv and movies but theme songs like the imperial march (darth vader theme from star wars) or the mortal kombat theme. I loved this addon and used it going into a battle to hype me up or used it to kill time while flying to and from. i cant remember for the life of me what DDM stands for. ccan anyone help me find this addon?
This is the music usually played when Darth Vader is speaking with the Emperor. It’s in the prequel trilogy as well, I know in Episode I where Darth Maul is talking to the Emperor you can hear it there too. It’s the same in all the movies. It’s also played when Darth Vader has his helmet put on in the sphere and talks to the Emperor I think. It’s like a low kind of vocal sound with some string accompaniment – probably several bassists. I really want to know what the name of the song is or at least a link to somewhere I can hear it/download it.
I know the Imperial March. Whatever this song is usually plays after the Imperial March. For example, in Episode III you can hear it when Palpatine is with Anakin and is starting to convince him to become evil and save Padme. It’s a low foreboding music, it makes you think of a bunch of hooded monks singing the song. It’s not a stand out piece you normally notice, it usually helps set the "evil" mood. Anytime it cuts to the Imperials and they’re plotting or discussing something it plays this, but never when action is happening. It’s always just foreboding background music. Does that help describe it any better?
I actually found what I was talking about – I’m amazed no one suggested this since the title of the piece is rather self explanatory. The piece is called "The Emperor’s Throne Room". Here is the link to it:

Eh, if someone wants to just put that in as an answer I’ll approve it since I don’t know how to answer my own question lol.
How did the ‘Imperial March’ from Star Wars become a popular metaphor for real-world dictatorial regimes? A lot of mock videos use it to paint a politician as authoritarian. (When Hugo Chavez tried to expand his powers last year, some web sites said "Cue the imperial march!")
It’s obvious that the Galactic Empire was totalitarian, but why THIS music of all the hundreds of themes they could have used?
Okay here’s the deal….my sister works at a Casino (she is managment) ….she is 28, a hard worker and boss to a lot of people…but she’s also about as mature as an 8 year old…she listens to alot of rap, indie, house, raver type stuff…(which has no bearing here…) she has to pick a song to "represent herself" and they are all gonna play clips at her work…and then they have to guess who the clip belongs too…thing is…she doesn’t listen to any "popular music" that anyone else might know…right now the best we can come up with (because it’s damn funny) is the Imperial March from Star Wars (that da nanananana…when Vader shows up) or Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson…she’s trying to find something really hokey kinda thing…that would be work appropriate….but, still immature at the same time lol

I’m looking for the title of this one score music from the Star Wars prequels, namely Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
The song can best be heard starting with the first shot of the Clone Troopers marching into their ships as Palpatine watches from a balcony at the end of Attack of the Clones, a different version of The Imperial March will fade in very soon right after this track.
The second instance, is in Revenge of the Sith, as Anakin marches on the Jedi Temple with his clones, this is the best clip to hear this track from, it starts as soon as it cuts to him and his clones marching up the steps, and continues all the way until you start seeing various Jedis in other worlds being slaughtered, then it starts playing Anakin’s Betrayal.
If anyone knows the name of this song can they please let me know? Thanks.
1. “Onward, Christian Soldiers”
2. “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American),” by Toby Keith
3. “Money for Nothing,” by Dire Straits
4. “Let the Eagle Soar,” by John Ashcroft
5. The theme song from Law & Order
6. “The Imperial March,” from Star Wars
7. OTHER – name it…
hey i need help finding a link or the name of the artist for this commercial, its a remix of the "imperial march" just cant find it!
heres the link to the commercial!
So I no The Imperial March and The Main Theme, but what are some of the other songs and themes from Star Wars, and if not by John Williams then who are they by?
I’m helping a friend host a superhero themed event, and we need to play some music. Can you suggest some great superhero theme songs? I’ve already got the Star Wars theme, the Imperial March (Darth Vader’s theme), and the Indiana Jones theme. What else ya got?

I’m trying my best to write and make a Star Wars fan film. No, it probably wont be seriously produced, so i don’t think i’m gonna have to worry too much about copywrite. But i’m wondering: Are there any rock, metal, or alternative covers of Star Wars songs?
Don’t bother mentioning Metallica’s S&M Version of Imperial March. I’ve got like, two copies of it. So i’m set on that. But i was wondering if there were any others? Like maybe Ozzy doing Duel of the Fates Lol.
Also, if anyone’s interested in helping me write the script to the film, please contact me.

I've heard the Imperial March and the Star Wars theme, but is there a specific theme for the Rebel Alliance/Rebellion in the soundtracks? I remember hearing a clip of it on Star Wars Battlegrounds….
